Gestational diabetes occurs during Pregnancy and is defined as
glucose intolerence. When a women is in labour it cause the hormone to change which effect the body to be less sensitive and thus effect the insulin in the body. The changes of the effects can leads to high blood sugar and diabetes. Hig
h blood sugar levels in pregnancy are dangerous for both mother and baby. Most of the time gestational diabetes is usually diagnosed during the 24th to 28th weeks of pregnancy. Mostly after delivery of the baby the blood glucose level will returns back to normal
Most clinic nurse or doctors will recommended that all pregnant women be screened for
gestational diabetes during the 24th and 28th weeks of their pregnancy. The symptoms are usually mild and not life-threatening to the pregnant woman. Pregnant women are advise to control their blood glucose levels as to reduce the risk to the baby. The symptoms of women during pregnancy are mostly nausea and in the early month the women will experience vomiting, increased thirst and urination, fatique, blurred vision and infections of skin and vagina.
